Work has been done to make Cappadocia, where stars such as Charles Bronson, Ömer Şerif, Tony Curtis and Nicholas Cage have made movies, appear more on the big screen and become the promotional face of Turkey.

Sait Yardımcı, producer and chairman of the Turkish Film Commission, and his team are making a documentary film in the region, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, to be broadcast on the Discovery Science Channel.

The documentary was shot in Göreme, the towns of Uçhisar, the village of Çavuşin and the surrounding valley, in the historic church, chapel and open-air museums.

Abdurrahman İtik is the director of the documentary produced for the channel’s documentary series “The mysteries of the abandoned”. With the narration of art historian Professor Mehmet Ekiz, the historical, cultural and natural contents of the region will be presented to the world.

Speaking to state agency Anadolu, Yardımcı said that the interesting rock formations that have emerged as a result of the erosion of lava and ash sprayed by the Erciyes, Hasandağı and Göllü Dağ mountains there are millions of years ago. years of rain and wind have made Cappadocia a special destination.

He said they were working to bring domestic and foreign film companies to Cappadocia after the pandemic.

“Cappadocia was a very popular tourist region before the pandemic. He started to be in demand years ago thanks to a Turkish TV series. Various films have been shot there. The publication of this documentary will make a very important contribution to the increase of tourism in Cappadocia, ”said Yardımcı.
