Internationally acclaimed director Mostafa Sarwar Farooki has joined the 2022 Sydney Film Festival (SFF) Official Competition Jury, which will award the Sydney Film Prize to one of 12 titles in the Official Competition.

The SFF is scheduled to take place from June 8-19 this year. The prestigious annual festival rewards courageous, daring and avant-garde films.

In addition to Farooki, the other members of the jury are: acclaimed actor/director David Wenham (Australia), who will also serve as jury president, BAFTA-nominated screenwriter and director Jennifer Peedom (Australia), award-winning writer-director-producer the Berlin Golden Bear Semih Kaplanoğlu (Turkey), and the Executive Director of the Kawakita Memorial Film Institute, Tokyo, Yuka Sakano (Japan).

The winner of the Sydney Film Prize will be announced at the SFF closing ceremony at the State Theater on June 19.

The Sydney Film Prize 2021 has been awarded to There Is No Evil, by Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof.
