– The Asian World TV Series Awards start in May 2022 in Istanbul

– AWFF 2022 will take place from November 9 to 18 in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, November 18, 2021 / PRNewswire / – The Asian World Film Festival (AWFF) has announced the launch of another television festival: Asian World TV Series Awards (AWTVSA). Like AWFF, AWTVSA will highlight established and emerging Asian content, filmmakers and artists, but with a focus on episodic television. The very first AWTVSA will debut in Istanbul, Turkey, May 2022.

At the same time, AWFF announced the dates for the eighth edition of its booming film event: November 9 – 18, 2022 in Los Angeles. The closing screening of the festival will take place November 17 and the award ceremony, November 18.

“Asian television is exploding in importance and so is functionality, so now is the time for us to launch a dedicated television event,” said Georges N. Chamchoum, Executive Director of AWFF. “AWTVSA will feature popular and compelling episodic storytelling, showcase talent under the radar, and provide a venue for the industry and the general public to celebrate great Asian TV content. “

AWFF 2021 November 11th At the closing night gala, the Snow Leopard Award for Best Film went to Brighton 4e (Georgia), Best Actor in Tolepbergen Baisakalov for Fire (Kazakhstan), and for Best Actress to Arawinda Kirana for Yuni (Indonesia). Eran Kolirin won the Snow Leopard Distinction Award for Directing Whether in the morning (Israel); Yusif (Lebanon), the special jury prize; and Shambala (Kyrgyzstan), the Audience Award. Taiwan-based South African composer Adriaan van Niekerk won the festival’s first SPRK MUSIC Film Scoring Competition Award, a partnership with SPRK Music.

AWFF 2021, the festival’s seventh annual show, presented feature films from over 20 countries, a total of 15 Academy Awards® for best international feature film and Golden Globe Award® for best film, foreign language submissions and a window on Africa program.
