Art Reach of Mid Michigan will host the 14th Annual Banner Festival.
The Festival of Banners was born out of a community leading group that focused on making Isabella County unique and making sense of place.
“The Festival of Banners aims to provide a unique public art facility, where all members of the community can create art,” said Art Reach Executive Director Amy Powell. “We partner with a number of schools, businesses, and individuals throughout the Central Michigan region to encourage artist expression and place-making. Each year, more than 300 banners are prominently displayed throughout Isabella County, and a book of the finished banners is published.
This event will feature brightly painted banners on streetlights in downtown Mt. Pleasant, McLaren Central Michigan, Main Street, Pickard Street in Union Township and Shepherd from June through November 2022.
Companies and individuals can sponsor the Festival of Banners starting at $2,500. Sponsors at this level will have their logo included on the back of the 300 banners and recognition on the Art Reach website.
Artists aged 18 and under or 65 and over are invited to participate free of charge. The registration deadline for banner submissions is February 18, and banners are available to artists of all ages and skill levels.
“Artists are encouraged to create a design that fits within the designated theme,” Powell said. “The theme for 2022 is ‘Art Springs Eternal’.”
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Art Reach will not be hosting Community Paint Days at Jameson Hall in 2022.
Complete kits will be made available to all participants. Space is also available at Art Reach during normal business hours upon request.
Those interested in submitting a design can retrieve an entry form from Art Reach or the Art Reach website. All banner designs become the property of Banner Festival.
